If you drive in Malaysia, you know the drill. You need a Touch 'n Go card for tolls. But the old cards had a problem. You had to find a physical counter to reload them. Sometimes you would run out of balance at the toll booth. Sometimes you would forget to top up before a long trip.
The Enhanced Touch 'n Go card fixes all of that. It uses NFC technology to let you reload from your phone. Anytime. Anywhere. No more queues. No more running out of balance at the worst possible moment.
This guide covers everything you need to know about the Enhanced Touch 'n Go card. How it works. How much it costs. How to use it. And why it is a game-changer for anyone driving in Malaysia.
What Is the Enhanced Touch 'n Go Card?
The Enhanced Touch 'n Go card is the latest version of Malaysia's famous contactless payment card. Unlike the older cards, this one is equipped with Near Field Communication (NFC) technology.
What does that mean for you? It means you can reload the card directly from your Touch 'n Go eWallet app using your smartphone. No need to find a 7-Eleven. No need to queue at a toll counter. Just tap and reload.
The card is accepted at all toll plazas in Peninsular Malaysia, major public transport services in Klang Valley, selected parking sites, and even some retail outlets.
How Much Does the Enhanced Touch 'n Go Card Cost?
The card itself costs RM10 for the generic design. This is a one-time purchase fee. The card comes with zero balance, so you need to reload it before use.
How to Use the Enhanced Touch 'n Go Card
Step 1: Link Your Card to TNG eWallet
Before you can reload using your phone, you need to link the card to your Touch 'n Go eWallet app. Here is how:
- Open the TNG eWallet app
- Tap on the "TNG Card" icon on the home screen
- Click the "+" button to add a card
- If your phone has NFC, tap "Scan Now" and place the card at the back of your phone
- Your 10-digit serial number will populate automatically
- Add a preferred card name and click "Add"
Make sure your TNG eWallet account is eKYC verified. You cannot link or reload an Enhanced card without completing this step.
Important: You can only link up to 15 TNG cards in one eWallet account.
Step 2: Reload Your Card
Once linked, reloading is simple :
- Open the TNG eWallet app
- Tap on "TNG Card" on the home screen
- Tap the "Reload" button
- Enter the amount (minimum RM10, maximum RM500)
- Scan your card at the back of the phone
- Confirm with your 6-digit PIN
The balance will be added instantly. You can check the new balance by tapping the NFC icon on the card list.
Step 3: Use Your Card
Tap your Enhanced Touch 'n Go card at any reader the same way you would with any TNG card. Tolls, trains, buses, parking. It all works the same.
Why You Need the Enhanced Touch 'n Go Card
No More Queues
The biggest pain point of the old cards was reloading. You had to find a counter. Wait in line. Pay in cash. The Enhanced card eliminates all of that. Reload anytime, anywhere, from your phone.
Never Run Out of Balance
With the SOS Balance feature, eligible users can still pass through tolls even with insufficient balance. You have 24 hours to reload and settle the charge, with no extra fees.
Better Security
You are encouraged to register your Enhanced Touch 'n Go card in the eWallet. This links your identity to the card, protecting your balance if the card is lost or stolen.
Works with PayDirect
The Enhanced card supports PayDirect at supported touchpoints. This means payments can be deducted directly from your linked TNG eWallet balance.
